LASTING POWERS OF ATTORNEY

HARD TO OVERSTATE THE IMPORTANCE:
If you ever become incapable of managing your own affairs, you may well also need to have a Lasting Power of Attorney– especially if you run your own business. That requires a document specifically to control property and Financial Affairs.

If you need to go into care and have dementia such that you cannot communicate with your carers yourself you need a document enabling somebody (or maybe more than on) to speak on your behalf about where you live what kind of a care and what treatment you receive.

Such authority is not given automatically to a spouse or children and by default could be in the hands of Social Services and your Local Authority.

There is a case on record of a lady who wads place in care initially with the agreement of herself and her daughter. When later they both changed their minds and the daughter took her mother to the daughter’s home, the powers that be disagreed and turned up on the doorstep, with a police escort prepared if necessary to break down the door, and the mother was returned to care.

"I would like to thank you for your very professional and friendly service. You were very patient, understanding and informative.
We are both very pleased in how you handled this important service to us. We will definitely recommend you to anyone who needs this service."

"I met Brian at the Huntingdon Business Network thinking I had no problems with my Will. However talking to Brian it soon became apparent that the people who I was leaving my estate to would be left with a large complex tax bill. Brian redid my will very efficiently, quickly and at a good price resolving this tax problem. I would definitely recommend him. Even to just have your current will checked."

"I have known Brian Williamson for eight years. For four of those we worked for the same company. I find him a man of integrity and a fine colleague.
When I married he prepared mirror wills very efficiently for us. When my brother died he helped me with probate and did it very professionally.
He now has his own business which I know he conducts in a way that clients expect, honestly, professionally and caringly. With Brian, you are assured of the best possible service."
